Horse trailer wrecked in Route 184 mishap

Horse trailer wrecked in Route 184 mishap

LAMOINE - An empty horse trailer was considered a total loss after it came loose from a truck that was towing it Thursday afternoon.

Bonnie Moretto, 50, of Lamoine was driving south on Route 184 around 5:30 p.m. when the two-horse trailer separated from Moretto's 1988 Ford truck, Hancock County Sheriff's Deputy Ken Mitchell said.

The trailer went off the east side of the road, crashing between two trees and coming to rest on its roof about one mile from Route 1, he said.

Moretto said she'd just had the wiring on the trailer repaired in Ellsworth and was headed back to Apple Blossom Farm in Lamoine when the accident occurred.

The trailer, worth $8,000, was demolished in the accident, Mitchell said, but the truck was not damaged.

No one was hurt in the accident.
